Manchester United have already strengthened Michael Carrick’s squad with several important additions this summer.
Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Karl Darlow, while highly-rated youngster Tynan Thompson is expected to feature for the first team after completing his move.
Goalkeeper Kit Margetson has also joined the club as United continue to build for both the present and the future.
The Red Devils are still expected to make further additions before the transfer window closes.
A striker signing remains a possibility if Joshua Zirkzee departs.
Barcelona also remain active in the market.
The Spanish giants decided against triggering the €30 million option to sign Marcus Rashford permanently following his season-long loan from Manchester United, despite the forward enjoying an impressive spell.
Now, the two clubs have reportedly emerged as rivals for another attacking player.
According to The i Paper, both Manchester United and Barcelona are among the clubs interested in signing former Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic.
The Serbian international is available as a free agent after leaving Juventus.
He has reportedly been mentioned as a potential short-term option if United decide to part ways with Joshua Zirkzee.
The report adds that Barcelona are also monitoring the striker as they assess opportunities in the free-agent market.
Vlahovic is no stranger to United’s transfer shortlist.
The Red Devils have been linked with the 26-year-old on several occasions over the past few years.
Interest resurfaced as recently as last September when he was once again identified as a possible attacking target following uncertainty over his future in Turin.
At the time, Juventus had pushed Vlahovic further down the pecking order, while United viewed him as an experienced option who could complement their existing forward line.
Whether the club reignites that long-standing interest remains to be seen.
However, with Zirkzee attracting interest from Italy and United continuing to assess their attacking options, Vlahovic has once again emerged as a player to watch before the transfer window closes.
