Barcelona must start moving players on if they are to have all of their first team players registered by the end of the summer transfer window – and even more pressingly, by the start of their La Liga season on Saturday. They’ve started to make progress on this matter, having closed the sale of Julian Araujo.
A deal was agreed last week between Barcelona and Bournemouth for Araujo, who was not in Hansi Flick’s plans for the 2024-25 campaign. The fixed fee is 10m, with no add-ons, sell-on or buy-back clauses, as was confirmed over the weekend.
Barcelona have now announced that Araujo has left the club to continue his career in the Premier League.

It did make some sense for Barcelona to make Araujo on, given that they already have Jules Kounde, Hector Fort and Alex Valle as right-back options. However, they could line to regret not having a sell-on or buy-back clause in the deal with Bournemouth.
