After reigniting his career away from Manchester United, Marcus Rashford has already lifted his first trophy with Barcelona.
This weekend saw the United loanee defeat Real Madrid in an El Classico Supacoppa Final, seeing Barca defending their crown from last year.
With seven goals and 11 assists in 27 games, Rashford has been impressing Barca boss Hansi Flick, spurring the discussions of a permanent move.
Flick already had retaining Rashford as a priority, but last week, the Spanish champions green lit the move.
On the back of the decision to work on keeping the England international, club sporting director Deco has already met with Rashford’s agent.
Now, talkSPORT have now reported that Barcelona and Manchester United have met to discuss a deal.
Whilst an option to buy of £26 million was included in the loan move, the LaLiga giants aren’t keen on simply triggering it.
It’s understood that talks have been held around either a secondary loan or a cheaper transfer.
The move is already known to be a dream move for Marcus Rashford who was keen to join Barca after his loan with Aston Villa in the summer.
The main obstacle for Barcelona sit with their struggling finances, an issue plaguing the club for some time now.
Routinely, the Spanish giants struggle to register their new signings for the season they’re bought in.
This is why the secondary option of another season-long loan was floated, with a conditional option to buy.
It’s understood that United’s preferred option is for a permanent move this summer, believing the £26 million isn’t an unreasonable request.
