Despite the loss, Real Madrid still has a sizable lead at the top of the table in La Liga with 66 points. That's a nine-point advantage over Sevilla with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid now tied for third with 54 points each.
In November 2021, Barcelona hired former midfielder Xavi to take over as the team's manager. Barcelona now hasn't lost in a month with nine wins and three draws in its last 12 matches, including a 4-2 win over Atletico and a 4-2 win against Napoli in the Europa League.
