Barcelona make decision on Marcus Rashford’s future

Marcus Rashford is having an incredible return to form as the England international continues to excel with Barcelona.

Since his move to Spain in the summer, Rashford’s scored seven goals and grabbed 11 assists in 26 games, helping Barca top the La Liga, defending their title.

The Spanish giants are also set to face Real Madrid in the Supercopa final on Sunday, while also continuing their run in the Copa del Rey.

For Rashford, it’s been an ideal start to life in Spain, which could be set to continue past the end of the season.

Although Rashford is only away on loan, an option to buy of £26 million was agreed when he made his “dream move” to join Barcelona.

Now, Spanish publication AS has reported that Hansi Flick has decided he wants to keep Rashford in the side for next season.

Although Flick’s desire to keep the United attacker for another season has been well known, Barcelona are now backing their manager and giving the move a green light.

Whether this will be as a further loan or by triggering the buy clause remains to be seen.

Whilst Rashford has come under scrutiny from some Spanish outlets for his play outside of the goal contributions, Flick is understood to be impressed by the improvement in his defensive play and attitude.

Rashford has reportedly been unphased by sitting on the bench, making the most of gametime when played, and is keen to remain with the La Liga giants.

As such, the ball appears to be in Manchester United’s court with the route set to be agreed down to them.

Rashford’s wages are some of the most expensive on United’s books, however, with Barcelona covering his full salary for the loan spell, this shouldn’t be a limiting factor for another loan.

That said, United could easily push for a full sale to end the attacker’s 21 year career at Old Trafford, having come through the United academy.
