Barcelona star has outside chance of earning Spain call-up for Euro 2024

Barcelona have missed Alejandro Balde over the course of the last few months. The young defender suffered a serious hamstring injury in January, which ended up curtailing his season. However, he is steadily making his way back to full fitness.

On Wednesday, Balde was spotted on the grass as his Barcelona teammates trained ahead of this weekend’s trip to Sevilla, their final match of this disappointing season. The 20-year-old won’t be involved, although he is noted as being available for the start of pre-season training in July.

Interestingly, MD say that Balde could even be considered by Spain for either of this summer’s international tournaments, that being Euro 2024 or the Summer Olympics in Paris. For the former, there is a spot open at left-back due to the recent injury sustained by Jose Gaya.

However, Barcelona would not be happy if Balde was rushed back to play in either tournament. They want him well-rested over the summer ahead of pre-season starting – it remains to be seen whether Spain and Luis de la Fuente take the same approach.
