Barcelona and Atletico Madrid won their last three league games in La Liga. Barcelona won three of their last five matches across all competitions, and Atletico Madrid won their last seven matches across all competitions.

Barcelona won their previous league match against Deportivo Alaves. Pablo Ibanez gave Alaves the lead in the first minute, but Lamine Yamal and a brace from Dani Olmo gave Barcelona the win at home.

Atletico Madrid defeated Real Oviedo 2-0 over the weekend at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano. Alexander Sorloth scored the two goals for Atleti to put them closer to the top positions of the table.
