FC Barcelona hosts Atletico Madrid at the Camp Nou on Wednesday for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.
The La Liga rivals meet again just days after their domestic clash, where Barcelona secured a 2-1 victory thanks to a late Robert Lewandowski goal.
While Hansi Flick’s side will be confident following that win, they remain wary of Atletico’s strong historical record against them in European competitions.
The Catalans have struggled in recent European meetings with Atletico Madrid, suffering elimination in both the 2013-14 (2-1) and 2015-16 (3-2) quarter-finals. Overall, they have won just one of their four continental clashes, scoring only three goals in the process.
While they have struggled in Europe, Hansi Flick’s side remains dominant domestically. They currently sit at the top of La Liga, holding a seven-point lead over second-place Real Madrid.
Outside of a heavy 4-0 defeat in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semifinals earlier this year, Barcelona has been remarkably consistent, most recently securing a 2-1 victory at the Metropolitano just four days ago.
Both teams enter this matchup following high-scoring victories in the Round of 16. Barcelona advanced with an 8-3 aggregate win over Newcastle, while Atletico Madrid eliminated Tottenham Hotspur with a 7-5 scoreline.
The quarter-final between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid will kick off on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 3:00 PM ET in the United States.
The match will be available in the United States through select TV channels and streaming services.
