Barton: Spurs striker Kane not in Rooney class

England legends Michael Owen, Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker were better forwards than Harry Kane, insists Joey Barton.

The 29-year-old is the nation's top goalscorer of all time, moving ahead of Wayne Rooney in the cheats recently.

However, Barton does not believe that recent praise for Kane, which has labeled him one of the best ever for the Three Lions, is justified.

Taking to Twitter, he wrote, "Respect what Harry Kane has done, but let's settle down on the goal record.

"Michael Owen. Alan Shearer. Gary Lineker. All light years ahead as marksmen.

Then Rooney just a well better player.

[Rooney is] the last world-class Englishmen [sic]. [Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude] Bellingham has a chance to be WC of current mob."
