Manchester United’s forward picture keeps shifting. Competition is tight, minutes are precious, and the next move is often decided before the window even feels open.
Benjamin Sesko, the Red Devil’s only out-and-out striker has fallen behind Bryan Mbeumo in the pecking order, with Patrick Dorgu also being promoted to the role of winger from left-back.
These shifts have added more competition for the attacking roles, with options like Matheus Cunha and Amad Diallo, fighting to remain in the starting line-up.
With United’s current forward options already fighting for selection, any outbound deal can look like a simple trimming of the squad. A player on the fringes, a pathway decision, a smart reset.
Now, Bay FC have officially revealed that they’ve signed one of United, talented forwards, however, from Marc Skinner’s Manchester United’s women’s squad.
Taking to thier official site, the America side confirmed: “Bay FC announced today the club has acquired forward Keira Barry via transfer from Women’s Super League club Manchester United.”
The statement continued: “Barry has signed a four-year contract through 2029 and will be added to the club’s roster pending receipt of her P-1 Visa and international transfer clearance.”
Speaking for the first time ahead of her move across the Atlantic, Barry commented: “When the opportunity to join Bay FC came up, it felt like the right move straight away.”
She continued: “After speaking with Emma and meeting (Sporting Director) Matt Potter and the staff, it was clear that the club’s values, ambition and people aligned with what I’m looking for at this stage of my career.
“I’m excited for the challenge of playing in a new league, testing myself against top players and experiencing life in the U.S.
“I believe this is the perfect environment to continue pushing my game forward, and I’m looking forward to showing Bay FC fans what I can bring.”
Barry’s United timeline reads like a modern academy development plan. She made her first-team debut in 2022, then became the 13th academy graduate to sign professional terms in 2023.
A Crystal Palace loan followed in 2023/24, with Palace winning the WSL 2 title and promotion. She then joined Sunderland on loan ahead of 2025/26, scoring three goals in 13 matches across all competitions before a December recall.
For United, it was a winger with potential, used selectively, then moved through purposeful environments to accelerate senior output.
For Bay FC, it is another step in a fast-moving build. The club have moved quickly since launch, pairing ambition with clear squad planning as they shape their next phase under Coates.
Barry’s arrival adds 1v1 threat and transition speed, with the calendar likely to dictate how quickly she is integrated once clearance lands.
The next question is simple: when does Keira Barry become available, and where does she sit in Bay FC’s wide rotation as 2026 ramps up.
