Christopher Nkunku is still on Bayern Munich’s radar as they search for a central attacker according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
Nkunku is expected to leave Chelsea this summer after arriving to much excitement from RB Leipzig in 2023 in a deal worth £52m.
Injuries have plagued his time at Stamford Bridge, and following the arrival of Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, and Jamie Gittens, he’s fallen further down the pecking order.
Chelsea have reportedly dropped their asking price for Nkunku to £43m, having previously asked for in excess of £60m in January.
Inter Milan are said to be working on a move for Nkunku, whilst Newcastle and Nottingham Forest are also believed to be interested, and the 27-year-old has been given permission to miss the start of pre-season.
Bayern held interest in January, but it’s believed Nkunku has fallen down their list of targets, and Jacobs has provided an update on their interest in the France international.
“Bayern are still looking for a central attacker and Nkunku is on their radar,” he told The London Is Blue Podcast.
“When Bayern were looking at Nkunku in January, Chelsea were asking for £60 million, Bayern were closer to £40 million. I think Bayern would be relatively firm on that price.”
Nkunku was in and out of the Chelsea side last season, and managed 15 goals in 48 appearances in all competitions, although just three of those were in the Premier League.
Nkunku isn’t the only attacker Chelsea are looking to sell this summer, with the Blues also looking to move Nicolas Jackson on.
It’s expected Jackson will depart before the end of the window, and Chelsea are said to have set their asking price at £80m.
Jackson is believed to be top of Newcastle’s list of options, whilst Italian giants AC Milan and Juventus are both interested in the 24-year-old.
The Senegal international scored ten Premier League goals last season, and seems to want a new challenge away from Chelsea next season.
