Liverpool have told Bayern Munich that they have no intention of selling Luis Diaz during the current summer transfer window. The situation has raised a lot of speculation about the reasoning behind the Reds’ current stance over the 28-year-old Colombian.

Liverpool have already made a lot of headlines in the transfer market by beating elite clubs to sign Florian Wirtz. Furthermore, they have signed Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong, leading to an exciting study of what Arne Slot is planning.

With Richard Hughes leading the charge of the several personnel changes within the squad, Diaz’s name has repeatedly popped up. The Colombian international has two years left in his current contract and faces competition from Cody Gakpo in the squad.

Gakpo’s consistently forced Slot to shift the 28-year-old centrally when the forward options struggled to deliver good performances last season. While Diaz has delivered some impressive performances, including a hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen last season, he has struggled with inconsistencies.

With the news of Liverpool potentially targeting a striker, the uncertainty has magnified around the 28-year-old until Liverpool’s current stance. According to The Athletic, Liverpool have told Bayern that they have no intention of selling Diaz during this summer window.

The Reds made the same declaration when Barcelona approached them earlier this summer, highlighting the importance of the Colombian international. There is a good argument that this is a ploy from Liverpool to raise the price of the 28-year-old attacker.

Rest assured, the current stance shows how highly the Reds staff rate Diaz, who on his best day is unplayable. That is the big reason why the Colombian is also a big fan favourite, despite his recurring struggles with productivity.

As things stand, Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa are the only two attacking players with the potential of a departure. However, things can change quickly in the transfer market if Bayern opts to make an offer that Liverpool cannot refuse.
