Tottenham Hotspur are enduring one of their worst ever domestic campaigns. The Lilywhites need to address a lot of problems once the season ends and Daniel Levy has very little time to find a solution. There is no surprise that the North London club needs a massive squad overhaul in the summer as their position in the Premier League continues to plummet.
Several key players have underperformed for Spurs this season. Club captain Heung-Min Son has struggled to find consistency in his performances. And it is fair to say that the South Korea international is way past his best now. January signing Mathys Tel has also struggled to make an impact at N17 under Ange Postecoglou.
Another forward that has just not got going for the Lilywhites is Richarlison. The Brazil international arrived at Spurs with high hopes after enduring a successful stint at Everton. But it is fair to say that the 28-year-old’s career at N17 has not been up to the mark. He has also fallen down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou this season.
Tottenham need to bring in new attackers to provide some much-needed squad depth next season. With Timo Werner heading out in the summer and Heung-Min Son also facing an uncertain future, Daniel Levy will hope to bring in a quality winger to fill the void the attacking void left behind by the pair.
As per German outlet Fussball Transfers, Spurs are interested in signing Bayern Munich star Leroy Sane in the summer. The Lilywhites are long-term admirers of the Germany international and believe he would be a perfect fit for Ange Postecoglou’s side. The report also mentions that Tottenham face competition from Newcastle United and Arsenal for the 29-year-old’s signature.
Florian Plettenberg (via X) had reported earlier that Sane was open to stay at Bayern beyond the summer and the Bundesliga giants were advancing in their efforts to extend his contract at the Allianz Arena. However, negotiations have hit a standstill and it is looking increasingly likely that the prolific winger will leave Bayern on a free transfer in the summer.
Spurs should do everything they can to sign Leroy Sane. The ex-Manchester City player is Premier League proven, and he is already one of the best wingers in the Bundesliga. He would thrive at N17 and provide a different dynamic to the attack under Ange Postecoglou. However, signing the prolific winger would mean that Heung-Min Son would lose his spot in the starting eleven and fall down the pecking order at the club.
The Bayern Munich winger likes to take on his man and create chances from the touchline. He can put in accurate low-crosses and has a brilliant shooting range. The Germany international is great at set-pieces and likes to drift around in the front line, taking up different positions in the attack. Sane would fit in perfectly up front with Dominic Solanke and the duo could linkup as well to create chances for one another.
