Lazio have reportedly been offered the services of young Bayern Munich midfielder Javier Fernandez, who could fill in for Nicolo Rovella.

The Biancocelesti have been playing 4-3-3 since Maurizio Sarri’s return to the club, but they currently have limited options in the deep-lying playmaker role. Rovella is the manager’s first choice for the role, but he’s been struggling with a groin issue that wrecked the first half of his campaign. The 23-year-old initially opted for alternative therapy, before giving up on the process due to the lack of progress.

On Thursday, Rovella underwent surgery, and he’s now expected to remain on the sidelines until January. In the meantime, Danilo Cataldi has been filling in for his injured compatriot, playing non-stop since September. On the other hand, Reda Belahyane has been considered surplus to requirements, and could be on the chopping block in January.

According to Il Messaggero, Lazio have the opportunity to bring in a young Regista who can add some cover until, at least until Rovella regains his optimal condition. The source claims that 18-year-old Fernandez has been offered to the Italian capital side.

The Spaniard had spells at the academies of Celta Vigo and Atletico Madrid , before joining Bayern Munich in 2023. He is currently part of the club’s second team. This wouldn’t be the first time Lazio signs a player from the Bundesliga giants in the middle of the season, as they brought in Arijon Ibrahimovic on loan last season, but eventually opted against exercising their option to buy him.
