Bayern Munich’s pursuit of Christopher Nkunku, if successful, could pave the way for Chelsea to materialise their interest in Alejandro Garnacho.
Indeed, the Bavarian giants have set their sights on Stamford Bridge outcast Nkunku as they look to bolster Vincent Kompany’s squad in the aftermath of Jamal Musiala’s lengthy injury layoff and Leroy Sane’s move to Galatasaray.
TeamTalk reports that Bayern are hoping to sanction the Frenchman’s arrival in a deal worth £40 million – the fee United are said to be demanding for Garnacho this summer, despite previously valuing him in the region of £75m.
It was claimed earlier this week that in order for Chelsea, who are ‘closely monitoring’ the youngster’s situation, to make a formal approach or bid, they will need to facilitate outgoings of their own first. Nkunku is one who’s almost nailed on to be departing the club this summer, while the likes of Nicolas Jackson and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall are among those deemed surplus to requirements.
Additionally, Enzo Maresca is keen to have his attacking options reinforced following Noni Madueke’s switch to rivals Arsenal. Garnacho is one forward the Blues hold a long-standing interest in, having initially held talks with his agent back in January.
The 21-year-old has his sights set on a move within the Premier League this summer, although Napoli are waiting in the wings to offer him a move abroad if he changes his mind.
