BBC pundit says it was a 'poor day at the office' for one Chelsea player yesterday

A BBC pundit has said that it was a “poor day at the office” for one Chelsea player yesterday as The Blues went out of the FA Cup.

Manchester City needed a late goal to beat Chelsea 1-0 and advance to another final, but it was far from a walk in the park for them.

City were there for the taking really and looked a bit hungover from their Champions League exit earlier in the week after having to play extra time. Chelsea were on top for large parts of the game and really had the edge over City.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side played well and deserve a lot of credit for that, but at the end of the day they lost the game and for me, it was simply down to attackers, mainly Nicolas Jackson, not taking their chances up top. City didn’t have too many chances themselves, but the key difference is that they took one of their chances and it was the most important chance to take near the end of the game when it was too late for Chelsea to get back into it.

Going back to Jackson, it was Alan Shearer who says it was a poor day at the office for the striker. Shearer knows very well how to score a goal, and he was disappointed with Jackson again.

In words picked up by The Blue Dodger, Shearer said: “A poor day at the office for Nicolas Jackson. Pochettino feels Chelsea should be about fourth on expected goals and this is exactly what he’s on about. Jackson never looked comfortable. They are absolute sitters, they really are. Three great chances for him.”

He’s spot on here as well unfortunately, Jackson is a striker who has never looked confident enough in front of goal, despite clear improvements in his game play and overall contributions as the season has gone on.
