Throughout the summer, Benjamin Sesko was clear about where he wanted to go, even as others circled. It was always Manchester United.
United wrapped up a £66 million deal for Benjamin Sesko over the weekend, adding him to their growing list of new arrivals under Ruben Amorim this summer.
Sesko slots perfectly into Amorim’s plans and gives the Red Devils a fresh look in attack alongside Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.
Ineos had to fend off interest from other clubs too. Newcastle were one of those pushing hard to get Sesko signed this summer.
But it did not matter who else came calling. The Slovenian striker only wanted Manchester United, and he has now given his first words since joining the club.
Despite finishing 15th in the Premier League and missing out on European competition, United’s summer transfer window has been impressive, with Sesko the latest to arrive.
The players brought in were all eager to join, a reflection of the club’s reputation and standing.
Sesko discussed his reasons for joining during his first interview with the club.

“I think, first of all, because of the club. It’s just a historical club that is unbelievable.
“For me, the team is great. It is getting better and better and that’s why also there is just stuff that makes you come there, gives you this energy that you want to be part of.
“I think it’s a great project, in general, and I can’t wait to start, definitely.”
Not long after the deal was made official, Amorim backed Sesko to settle quickly, describing him as a great fit for both the squad and the dressing room.
“He will realise during his first training that he is at the right place [for his development]. That’s really important. He has the characteristics that we needed,” Amorim said.
The first images of Sesko in training have since been released, and it looks like he is getting up to speed quickly ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
United open their season with a home match against Arsenal, and Sesko will no doubt be eager to play a part.
There are even reports suggesting United may organise a behind-closed-doors friendly to help him get fully ready before that opener.
