Ismael Bennacer is very much back in contention for AC Milan after recovering from injury, and he could play a very important role in the last few months of the season.

MilanNews writes that for the first time since the serious injury suffered last May, Milan finds itself in the position of having to ask Bennacer to be the best version of himself, not that he has struggled since coming back.

The Algerian has demonstrated in nearly every match how important he is physically, tactically and technically, as a complete central midfielder who provides balance that arguably nobody else in the squad does.

Walter Mazzarri’s Napoli arrive at San Siro on Sunday evening, a match that marks the start of a busy period, and there will be no Tijjani Reijnders who will be out due to picking up his fifth booking against Frosinone.

Bennacer will be the one designated to replace Reijnders, and then it is likely that either Yunus Musah or Yacine Adli will be next to him. In either case, both will be able to benefit from having the former Empoli man next to them.

Now, after the African Cup of Nations, Bennacer will be fully involved in a run of games for the first time this season given he recovered from his injury in December and then jetted off after a few appearances.

Bennacer assured everyone that he is feeling good during an interview with DAZN after Frosinone-Milan, a game in which his introduction off the bench restored order and a bit of tactical discipline.

“I’m fine, I’m happy to be here with the team. I want to help as I can, I’m hungry. I hope to give a hand to the team,” he said.
