Besiktas have entered 2026 off the back of a first half of the season that has landed them in a fifth placed position currently.
The Turkish side, who won Super Lig in the 2020-21 season, has picked up 29 points so far this season whilst also winning eight games during this period.
Furthermore, in the campaign so far, Tammy Abraham has topped the scoring charts for the side with seven goals whilst the side have scored the fourth highest amount of goals (14).
But, for the outfit, January could offer the opportunity to rebuild, improve, and push themselves higher up the table.
One player the side could choose to pursue is Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir, who had been linked with Besiktas ahead of the window.
Now, the side have been linked with a move for Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.
According to Sabah, United have been contacted by the side over a potential transfer in the January transfer window.
Mainoo, who came through the Manchester United youth academy, has been limited to just eleven appearances in the Premier League this season.
As well as this, in comparison to last season’s appearances in the league (25), the midfielder has featured less times on average during the first half of the season.
With this in mind, Mainoo has been linked with moves away from the club including to Serie A champions Napoli.
The Naples outfit, who also have players such as Scott McTominay and Rasmus Hojlund currently in their squad, was previously named as the Englishman’s preferred next club.
Therefore, for Besiktas, a potential deal for Kobbie Mainoo could be difficult.
Furthermore, for both sides, considering the amount of injuries United have, the club may look to hold onto the midfielder. But, only time will tell in this.
