Besiktas once more are struggling to reach the top of the table as they currently sit in fifth place in the Turkish Super Lig.

Since winning the league in 2021, Besiktas have fallen back to their usual spot of between third and sixth.

However, the club, who sacked former Manchester United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their manager at the start of the season, have plans to fight back next year.

In Solskjaer’s place, Sergen Yalcin has taken the role of manager, however this hasn’t ended the links with The Red Devils.

Turkish outlet Fotomac has reported that the Istanbul-based side are maintaining their interest in United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir to reinforce their goalkeeping options.

Bayindir moved to Old Trafford back in 2023 from Fenerbahce for £4 million, becoming the back-up goalkeeper for Andre Onana.

With Onana’s role of first-choice keeper coming into question at the start of the season, Bayindir stepped up to start all Premier League games until Senne Lammens asserted himself as Onana’s replacement.

Now, with Altay Bayindir once more struggling for gametime, the Turkey international is lookingly set to return to the Super Lig.

It’s understood that Besiktas are planning to make moves in the summer after a failed attempt to sign him in January hasn’t put off the Turkish side.

At the end of the winter window, having had a move for Bayindir block, The Eagles turned instead to Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

However, it now appears that Altay Bayindir is still the Turkish side’s priority signing to boost their defence.
