Atalanta are lining up a move for 23-year-old Italian goalkeeper Elia Caprile, if current number-one Marco Carnesecchi leaves the club this summer amidst links to Manchester United.
The Premier League side are keeping an eye on the Italian, who was a reliable stalwart in the Atalanta goal this season, in case a suitable offer is received for former Inter man Andre Onana.
Atalanta do not want to be left short-staffed in case Carnesecchi departs and, according to reports from TuttoAtalanta, the Bergamo side consider Caprile as a strong option.
Caprile spent this last season on loan with Cagliari from Napoli and the Sardinian side look set to activate their option-to-buy the player for an agreed fee of €8 million. From here, Cagliari can look to turn a quick profit if there is enough interest – or stick with the man who helped them stay in Serie A in 15th place.
Caprile kept eight clean sheets and conceded just 23 goals in 22 appearances for Cagliari and has therefore more than justified interest from some top clubs.
