Brentford have been handed a massive injury boost after Thomas Frank has declared Ivan Toney fit to play against Sheffield United on Saturday.

The Bees were without Toney in their previous match against Aston Villa having been left as an unused substitute because of a hip problem. But Frank has stated the 28-year-old will be playing against the Blades.

Frank admitted after the 3-3 draw versus Aston Villa: “If we would have been 2-0 up or 2-0 down I probably wouldn’t have put him on the pitch. He is fine and will be ready for Sheffield United. He could have played today but that would have been pushing it,” via The Evening Standard.

“He is a beast. He can play through everything, but sometimes I need to be the sensible guy that can take a decision for him to make sure he performs at the top level.”

Since coming back from his suspension Toney has been in good form, scoring four times and racking up an assist. The Englishman is once more at the heart of every Brentford attack.

The Bees have also seen an improvement in fitness from Bryan Mbuemo, and it hasn’t taken long for the Cameroonian to find his shooting boots, scoring on his first start since his injury against Villa.

Sheffield United will be heading South to try and claim the double over Brentford. In the reverse fixture back in December at Bramall Lane it was an outrageous strike from James McAtee that settled the difference.
