Brighton fullback Veltman: Van Hecke now amazing

Netherlands centre back Jan Paul van Hecke has been told that his tough introduction to the Premier League is paying off.

The defender did not have the best start to his life with Brighton and Hove Albion last term.

However, he is now looking like the real deal in defense, covering for the likes of Lewis Dunk and Adam Webster.

His fellow defender Joel Veltman said: He was still young.

Every game he played, it was experience.

He put it all in his backpack, I would say.

Now he is amazing and it is so good for him.

The balls he played through the midfield, it was like he was 31 or something."
