Brondby’s manager Benjamin Schmedes has provided an update on Mathias Kvistgaarden, a long-standing Celtic target, revealing that no offers have been made yet for the 23-year-old striker…

Having been linked with a transfer to Celtic for nearly two years, the Denmark U21 international has excelled this season, netting 32 goals and providing seven assists across 38 games. Brondby secured third place in the Danish Superliga after a 3-2 victory away at AGF on Sunday.

Regarding a potential transfer abroad, Schmedes confirmed that no offers have been made for the player so far, but that situation could evolve. Speaking via Daily Record, he said: look at it when there is something on the table that we can talk about.”

“We don’t have that right now, so we are not saying goodbye to him yet. We will sit down and look at the season, and then we will see what the transfer window brings. That applies to Mathias and all the other players.”

“He is an interesting player for the five major leagues. It is not without reason that he was named Player of the Year, and there are many things that bigger clubs in the five major leagues could be interested in. I will answer the phone when they call, and then we will see.”

Since his debut in 2020, the versatile forward has featured in 126 matches for Brondby, tallying 47 goals and 19 assists, playing both centrally and on the wing throughout his five-year stint in Denmark.

Currently, Celtic’s attacking options include Adam Idah, Daizen Maeda, and Johnny Kenny, but there are reports indicating the club aims to bolster their forward line during the upcoming transfer window if the opportunity arises.

In recent months, Kvistgaarden has also been linked with a move to Bundesliga club and 2022 Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt.
