Aston Villa faced off against Freiburg at Besiktas Park earlier tonight as they hoped to secure a good result in the UEFA Europa League final. The Villans made a decent start to the game and scored the opening goal in the 40th minute when Youri Tielemans got his name on the scoresheet. Emiliano Buendia doubled his team’s lead with a great strike in the first half injury-time as Unai Emery’s men went into the half-time break 2-0 up on the scoreline.

Morgan Rogers scored Aston Villa’s third goal in the 57th minute as the West Midlands club secured an impressive 3-0 win in the final.

Let’s take a look at how each Aston Villa player fared during the clash against Freiburg.

GK: Emiliano Martinez – 7/10

He made a few solid saves at the back and did well to secure the clean sheet tonight.

RB: Matty Cash – 7/10

Cash was a positive influence at both ends of the field.

CB: Ezri Konsa – 7/10

He was a rock at the back for his team and deserves credit for restricting the opposition from scoring tonight.

CB: Pau Torres – 6.5/10

The Spaniard cleared the danger when he could and did enough to earn the shutout.

LB: Lucas Digne – 6.5/10

He hardly put a foot wrong defensively but offered very little going forward.

CM: Victor Lindelof – 7/10

Lindelof anchored the midfield well and was good on the ball.

CM: Youri Tielemans – 8/10

He managed to shine at times on both halves and did well to score the opener in the 40th minute.

RW: John McGinn – 7.5/10

McGinn caused a lot of headaches for his marker and managed to secure an assist.

CAM: Morgan Rogers – 8/10

He was a constant menace in the final third and has got a goal and an assist to show for his efforts.

LW: Emiliano Buendia – 9/10

Buendia was the best player on the field tonight. He was unstoppable at times and scored a memorable goal to double his team’s advantage in the dying embers of the first half.

ST: Ollie Watkins – 7/10

He put in a tireless shift in the final third but failed to register a goal.

He added some energy to Emery’s midfield.
