Legendary Serie A stars Gianluigi Buffon, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alessandro Del Piero were at the centre of an entertaining video put out by the Champions League during the competition’s league phase draw on Thursday afternoon.
The 2024-25 Champions League draw is now underway.
Follow the action as it unfolds on the Football Italia liveblog.
A cast of star-studded former footballers were asked to explain the new Champions League format, which features 36 teams instead of 32 from the 2024-25 campaign onwards.
Buffon, a surprisingly decent actor, was shown in conversation with UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin, attempting to get to grips with the new Champions League format.
Alessandro Del Piero also popped up alongside his CBS Sports colleague Kate Abdo, both of whom were also acting confused by the new lay-out.
Ibrahimovic took centre-stage towards the end of the clip, exchanging jokes with Čeferin about the infamous ‘Super League’ and the fact that he was never able to win the Champions League during his playing career.
