Bundesliga side Hamburg SV are eyeing a loan move for Tottenham youngster Luka Vuskovic

Tottenham Hotspur boss Thomas Frank has been constantly looking to improve his squad in this summer transfer window.

So far, the Danish boss has overseen the signings of Kota Takai and Mohammed Kudus, as well as the permanent acquisition of Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich. There is still a lot to be desired after the Lilywhites’ last season’s struggles. As much as bringing in new faces is important, Thomas Frank, in partnership with Daniel Levy and Johan Lange, must decide which players from the current roster are to be kept and let go.

There are several young talents who returned to the club after impressing out in their respective loan spells. Alfie Dorrington impressed during the second half of last season on loan at Aberdeen and has now re-joined them for the 2025/26 season on loan, while Josh Keeley has been sold to Luton Town following his fine temporary spell with Leyton Orient last term.

Fans are now eager to see what decision Spurs take on Luka Vuskovic. The teenager officially arrived at Tottenham at the start of July, two years on from when we paid £13m to sign him from Hajduk Split. He has spent the past two seasons out on loan and enjoyed a successful spell with Belgian club KVC Westerlo during the 2024/25 campaign.

The Tottenham officials were reportedly impressed by the Croatian defender’s development on loan at KVC Westerlo, where he scored seven goals in 36 appearances. His rock-solid displays in the Belgian top-tier has seemingly not gone unnoticed, with one club keen on his signature.

Luka Vuskovic on Hamburg SV radar

According to German outlet Hamburger Morgenpost, Luka Vuskovic has emerged as a target for Hamburg SV. The newly promoted Bundesliga club want to strengthen their defence for the 2025/26 season and have added the Spurs youngster in their shortlist. Southampton’s Armel Bella-Kotchap is also a target.

Vuskovic’s brother, Mario, who is currently with Hamburg SV, earlier this month publicly said the 18-year-old would love to play for the German club. Despite Mario’s admission, Hamburg remain realistic about their chances of signing his younger brother from Tottenham on a season-long loan and thus are moving forward to bring in other targets.

The report adds Vuskovic’s stock has grown at White Hart Lane and he is expected to stay at the club this season.

Thomas Frank to keep Luka Vuskovic in his squad?

Vuskovic made his first outing in the famous white shirt last weekend, putting in a solid display in the 2-0 win over Reading in this summer’s first pre-season friendly. The one-cap Croatia international’s performance against Reading, albeit being a pre-season friendly, has seemingly made a positive impression to the new Spurs boss and his coaching staff.

If the aforementioned report is to be believed, Frank having decided to keep Vuskovic is great news.
