Burnley hold talks to sign Harry Amass

Last season, Burnley suffered relegation from the Premier League, and unfortunately, after three games in the Championship, the Turf Moor side aren’t looking to bounce back.

In three games, Burnley have only one point to their name thanks to a draw with fellow relegation side West Ham United, as they sit at the top of the relegation zone in 22nd overall.

After beating the Hammers, Nicky Hayen’s side lost 3-1 to West Brom before going on to lose 4-1 to Norwich in back-to-back away games.

However, the Turf Moor side are now looking to improve their defence as they look to sign Manchester United’s Harry Amass.

Sky Sports reporter Danyal Khan has explained that Burnley have held talks with United over a permanent move for Amass, however a loan move isn’t being ruled out.

The left-back had a fantastic spell on loan with Sheffield Wednesday last season, shining in an otherwise problematic side, which faced issues on and off the pitch.

After a strong first half of the season, his loan with The Owls was terminated for him to join Norwich; however, a hamstring injury ruled him out of the rest of the season after his debut for the side lasted 15 minutes.

Despite this, Burnley feel he did enough with Sheffield Wednesday to prove himself as a strong Championship player, however a move could cause issues for United.

Should Manchester United agree to let Harry Amass leave, their already limited left-back options will be one less, leaving only Luke Shaw, Patrick Dorgu and Diego Leon as natural players in the role, with Dorgu arguably showing he’s more suited further up the pitch.

As such, losing the 19-year-old could have a major knock-on effect should Luke Shaw face another injury, as he has for each of the last three seasons, with right-backs Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui potentially having to cover both flanks.
