Burnley midfielder Sander Berge says relegation is "devastating".

Defeat at Tottenham confirmed Burnley will return to the Championship next season.

Berge told the club's website: I'm devastated, as is the whole group. Came here today, believed in it, as we've done the whole season and played really well, I would say. Played with heart, played with character as we've done throughout the whole season. Especially the last ten games how we've fought back and showed that we are a Premier League team and everyone has to respect us.

Obviously coming out getting the 1-0, still pushing, playing well, playing smart, managing the game well. It felt like it was there for us to take it and then, it's hurting."

On Tottenham's late winner scored by Micky van de Ven, he added: It was tough to take at that point, they were going for it. We defended a bit more, they're obviously a very strong side, managed the ball well. They needed to score but we knew if we could keep it tight at the back, we would get our chance on the break and unfortunately, they scored. We fought until the last minute, but it wasn't enough so it's a devastating feeling. But the fans were again brilliant, and I think they could see that we left it all out there."
