Callum McGregor cleans up with Celtic and PFA awards

Celtic skipper Callum McGregor took a huge step towards lifting his first league title as captain yesterday with a draw against Rangers. Then last night, he collected the Celtic Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year and PFA Scotland’s Player of the Year gong.

McGregor is the heartbeat of this Celtic team, he typifies the hard work of Postecoglou’s side and the fact he’s been rewarded shows how much McGregor bought into Ange’s system.

The 28-year-old has played 49 times this season, scoring 4 times and gaining 5 assists. It’s remarkable how far the club have come in a year after the anomaly of 2020/21.

McGregor beat off competition from Tom Rogic, Regan Charles-Cook and ex-Celt Craig Gordon for the top prize. It’s been an incredible season for the Scotland Internationalist. He stepped up to replace Scott Brown, a huge figure at the club, and managed to put his own stamp on matters as Ange rebuilt.
