Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso will miss Saturday’s away game at Lazio due to an ‘elongation of the rectus femoris of the left thigh’ and will be reassessed again next week.

Juventus provided an official update on their defender Cambiaso after the Italian was forced to be subbed off in an away game at Bologna on Sunday.

“Andrea Cambiaso, following the muscle discomfort felt during the Serie A match against Bologna, underwent diagnostic tests this Monday morning at J|Medical that showed an elongation of the rectus femoris of the left thigh,” Juventus said.

“More examinations will be conducted in about seven days to define the exact recovery time.”

Official: Injured Cambiaso to miss Lazio vs Juventus

The Italy international has played 40 games across all competitions this season, scoring two goals and providing four assists.

Juventus are already dealing with an injury crisis in defence as Gleison Bremer, Juan Cabal, Lloyd Kelly and Federico Gatti are currently injured. Football Italia understands that only Gatti has a chance to recover for the next game against Lazio on Saturday.

It will be another crucial match for the Bianconeri, who are now level on 63 points with the Biancocelesti and Roma.

Juventus’ latest rivals, Bologna, are just one point below Juventus, Lazio and Roma, but Fiorentina and Milan are also still involved in the race for a Champions League spot.
