Tottenham Hotspur are actively seeking a reliable goalscorer, particularly in consideration of the problems Thomas Frank has been facing in recent weeks.
Spurs began the season brightly and picked up three wins from opening four Premier League games. The next four league games have seen them pick up just five points. The biggest concern for Thomas Frank’s side has been scoring goals, and getting them from the strikers and wingers.
Richarlison has been labouring in recent weeks, and Frank has had no choice but to stick with him due to Dominic Solanke undergoing a minor ankle surgery. Randal Kolo Muani has only recovered from a dead leg that kept him sidelined for almost a month. Mathys Tel has been poor up top, struggling to make an impact like Richarlison and provide his team with goals.
Thus, the north Londoners are keen to bolster their striker department when the transfer window reopens in January. Palmeiras striker Vitor Roque is the latest name to be linked with a move to Tottenham. Chelsea are interested in the player as well.
Vitor Roque was regarded as a big talent during his time at Athletico Paranaense. Barcelona identified the striker and pounced on the opportunity to sign him in 2023 well before anyone else could. However, the 20-year-old flopped at Barcelona, and after a brief spell on loan at Real Betis, he left Europe and made his return to Brazil in February 2025.
Palmeiras struck a permanent deal with Barcelona for the transfer of Roque, and he has since managed to rebuild his career at Brazil. The 20-year-old has scored and assisted 21 times this season for Palmeiras, attracting attention from Premier League duo Tottenham and Chelsea.
Now, a fresh update has emerged on Tottenham and Chelsea’s links with the Palmeiras starlet. Journalist Jorge Nicola has rubbished links of Spurs and Chelsea with Roque, revealing that both the Premier League clubs are not considering a move for Roque in January.
“The name is completely ruled out. Any noise around the forward comes from people close to Vitor trying to give him visibility abroad. Palmeiras are very confident that the £21m invested will keep Vitor Roque here for a long time,” Jorge Nicola said on his official YouTube channel.
There is a reason why Spurs are not considering a move for Roque, and that is because they have set their sights on Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic. The Serbian international, who has racked up 62 goals and 15 assists in 155 appearances for Juventus, is out of contract at the end of the season, emerging as a potential bargain option for Tottenham.
Vlahovic has started just two Serie A games this season, which could suggest that his future lies elsewhere. Juventus must sell the 25-year-old in January or risk losing him on a free transfer at the end of the season. As per reports, the Turin giants want as little as €15 to part ways with the centre-forward.
A proven striker at the highest level with solid European experience, Vlahovic would be a fantastic addition to the Lilywhites’ attacking ranks. At 25, the big Serb is still light years away from hitting his prime and Tottenham could solve their goalscoring issues for the long term by acquiring his services in the New Year.
