Inter confirm Canada international Tajon Buchanan has completed a permanent move to Villarreal.
Canada defender Buchanan has officially joined Villarreal on a permanent transfer from Inter.
The Nerazzurri have confirmed the defender’s transfer with an official statement on Tuesday.
Buchanan, 26, spent the second part of the 2024-25 season on loan at Villarreal and has now joined the La Liga side on a permanent deal.
Buchanan scored one goal and provided two assists in 13 La Liga games last season.
He has left Inter after scoring one goal in 17 appearances with the Serie A giants, becoming the first Canadian player to win the Scudetto in the 2023-24 campaign, under Simone Inzaghi.
Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio reported last week that Inter would earn €8.5m from Buchanan’s permanent move to Villarreal plus a 20% sell-on clause.
Buchanan made his senior Canada debut in 2021 and has scored eight goals in 51 international appearances.
He has signed a contract until 2030 with Villarreal.
