Fabio Capello believes Francesco Camarda should’ve stayed at AC Milan, and that Francesco Pio Esposito could use another loan.
The former Rossoneri coach gave his thoughts in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
This coming season will see two young strikers from Milan starring in Serie A.
Inter Milan have decided to bring Francesco Pio Esposito into their first team. This comes after two successful loan spells at Spezia.
Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri’s city rivals have loaned teenage striker Francesco Camarda to Lecce.
Camarda has had a few notable appearances for the Rossoneri first team. However, the move to Lecce will give the 17-year-old an opportunity to play more regularly.
However, former Milan coach Capello has his own views on the development of Camarda and Pio Esposito.
Capello argued that “Francesco Camarda is ready.”
“If you have a young talent like that you should keep him and let him play,” he continued.
“He should’ve stayed with the Rossoneri. Especially since Milan are only playing in the league.”
Capello anoted that Camarda “has already passed the San Siro test with flying colours.”
“He could have played consistently at Milan, too. They’re looking for a centre-forward now.”
Meanwhile, Capello gave his thoughts on Inter striker Francesco Pio Esposito. “Pio performed well at the Club World Cup,” he said.
“But he hasn’t passed the San Siro test yet,” Capello said.
“It’s true that Inter are playing on several fronts and Milan are just playing in the league, but if Chivu believes Ademola Lookman is more ready and tactically suited to the project, Pio Esposito could use another year on loan.”
“These are assessment the coach and management have to make on a case-by-case basis,” Capello argued.
