Manchester United’s revival under interim boss Michael Carrick has brought belief back to Old Trafford, with performances on the pitch now matching the optimism off it.
Another narrow but important victory away from home continued that momentum, pushing United further into the Champions League conversation as the season enters a decisive stretch.
But while the spotlight was firmly on the dugout and the result, a small off-field moment after the final whistle provided an unexpected talking point.
Carrick guided Manchester United to a 1-0 win over Everton at Hill Dickinson Stadium, with Benjamin Sesko scoring the decisive goal to extend the interim manager’s unbeaten run to six matches.
Among those in attendance was Carrick’s 15-year-old son Jacey Carrick, who had travelled to Merseyside to watch his father continue his impressive start in the dugout.
Jacey Carrick, who is already part of United’s Under-18 setup, waited in a designated post-match area hoping to meet his dad once media duties were complete.
However, according to The Sun, a security guard who did not recognise him questioned whether he was authorised to be there.
When asked to explain himself, the teenager simply replied: “I’m with Michael Carrick.”
The response reportedly caused some confusion, and the young midfielder was briefly escorted away while the situation was clarified.
Thankfully, the misunderstanding was quickly resolved and Jacey was allowed back in to meet his father after United’s latest win.
On the pitch, Carrick’s impact continues to be felt, with United looking revitalised following his appointment after Ruben Amorim’s departure.
The Red Devils now sit fourth in the Premier League table, just three points behind Aston Villa in third, as belief grows that a top-four finish is firmly within reach.
For Carrick, it was another night to remember, even if it came with an awkward reminder that, in football, credentials matter just as much as surnames.
