Casemiro is seen by many as one of the greatest defensive midfielders of his generation.
The 33-year old, who played 336 times for Real Madrid, was a key part to one of the greatest club sides in modern footballing history.
During his time with Los Blancos, he won five Champions League, three La Liga titles and one Spanish Cup.
He has also gone on to captain the Brazilian national team during his career, earning 82 caps.
Casemiro joined United in the 2022 summer transfer window.
He excelled during his first season at the club, as they reached finals of both the League Cup and FA Cup.
Casemiro was the hero at Wembley in February.
He scored the first goal of the game as United beat Newcastle 2-0.
However, it was not meant to be in the FA Cup as they lost 2-1 to Manchester City.
He did secure an FA Cup winners medal a season later, on the bench as United got revenge on City with their own 2-1 victory.
Speculation has been rife over the future of Casemiro. He has broken his silence on the matter.
Casemiro has revealed on his official social media that he is to leave the club at the end of the season when his contract expires.
“Knowing when stages come to an end”, said Casemiro on Instagram.
“Knowing when to say goodbye when you feel that you will be remembered and respected forever.
“Four months to give my all for this badge and for our goal.
“Eternal respect and affection for Manchester United and its wonderful fans.
“Forever Red Devil.”
He also spoke on United’s official website.
“From the first day that I walked out at this beautiful stadium, I felt the passion of Old Trafford and the love that I now share with our supporters for this special club.
“It is not time to say goodbye; there are many more memories to create during the next four months.
“We still have a lot to fight for together; my complete focus will, as always, remain on giving my everything to help our club to succeed.
The departure of Casemiro is even more likely to cement the future of Kobbie Mainoo.
Mainoo was heavily linked with a move away from the club under manager Ruben Amorim.
The dismissal of the former Portugal International as head coach seems to have opened the door for a return to first team football for Mainoo.
