Casemiro is set to leave Manchester United at the end of this season, bringing to an end four years at Old Trafford.
In his time at the club, the Brazilian international has made 159 appearances whilst scoring 26 goals and providing 13 assists.
His influence at set piece situations can also not be understated with many of his goals coming from dead balls scenarios.
The midfielder looks set to join Inter Miami after he leaves United in the summer having agreed a deal with the American outfit and could play his last match at Old Trafford on Sunday against Nottingham Forest.
Ahead of this, according to SunSport, Casemiro feels that he would have been able to play at Manchester United if Michael Carrick was appointed earlier by the club.
The outlet have stated that measures have been taken by Carrick to ensure that he remains completely fit, helping to make him play more frequently and increasing the chance of him being able to play for longer.
Earlier this week, the midfielder threw compliments towards and backed the manager for the permanent role as the club prepares to hire their next boss ahead of the summer.
It is likely that this will be Carrick, and Casemiro stated: “The team plays very good. He will win any games. The team improves day by day. Game by game the team improves.
“So, for me, it’s a big problem because in my opinion he deserved this opportunity.
“So, especially for me, because he played in the midfield, he talked with me as a midfielder to a midfielder, it’s easier.
“He deserves the opportunity because the team is very comfortable. The team plays very good. We have big wins big ones. So for me he deserves this opportunity.”
Casemiro will not be at Manchester United to see Carrick guide the team permanently although his influence in helping the team succeed can not be understated.
Although his departure may leave some scars for some supporters, his work has set the expectation for what is needed at Old Trafford.
