Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Celtic legend James Forrest had put pen to paper on a new contract at the club, extending his stay until the summer of 2027.

As you would expect, this has certainly divided opinion within the fanbase, but there is no doubt that the veteran is a popular figure amongst the dressing room, and as a back up option, it could be worse.

Well, it turns out that Forrest is not the only Celtic player to sign a new contract with the club this week. Far from it, as it has today on Friday, the 24th of April, been confirmed that both Liam Scales and Luke McCowan have signed deals until 2030 and 2028 respectively.

Before these contracts, Scales had two years left on his existing deal, so has extended by two years, whilst McCowan had one year remaining, so has signed a one year extension.

Up until now, the former has played 3674 minutes across all competitions, so is clearly an important player. Meanwhile the midfielder has played a fair bit less, just 1346 minutes, but it is a squad game and he proved his importance in the win over St Mirren last weekend.
