Celtic manager’s judgement spot on with Adam Idah signing

It was no secret that we needed a centre forward in the transfer window. With Kyogo failing to produce his best form and doubts still lingering over Oh (where has he gone?), we needed some extra fire power for the second half of the campaign.

Two names who were heavily linked with the club were Bojan Miovski and Sydney Van Hoojidonk. Both proven strikers who could have perhaps added much needed fire power to our attack. Every transfer is a risk and as this was a crucial signing in January, you have to say that Brendan got it spot on bringing in Adam Idah.

I’ll put my hands up and admit I was keen for the club to make a move for either Miovski or Van Hoojidonk to bolster our forward line. We were crying out for a player of that calibre to add to our squad. In the end we got a last minute loan signing in the shape of Adam Idah, a Republic of Ireland international who couldn’t get a start for Norwich City in the Championship. To say his arrival was greeted with disappointment by some supporters would be an understatement.

Some supporters however welcomed Adam from the start and gave him our full support and backing in his bid to succeed at the club. Despite Adam being far from the finished article, he’s not let himself down and very much proved his worth to the club by scoring some vital goals in his short time in Glasgow. He also has now fully settled into life as a Celtic player and all the indications are that he wants to stay on at the club beyond his loan deal which ends next month.

His goal against St Mirren yesterday was his seventh in only 12 appearances for the club. Thats a rdecent return considering he’s only started five games.

Contrast that to Bojan Miovski who has only scored five goals since the end of the transfer window, and Sydney Van Hoojidonk who has yet to score a goal for Norwich City, as their support looks North and wonder if their own January transfer dealings was as sound as Celtic’s has turned out to be, as far as bringing in a striker is concerned.

It seems that the decision to take a chance on a player who couldn’t get a start for Norwich was the correct one after all and that is down to one man, Brendan Rodgers. That older compliant Celtic site that always tries to discredit the Celtic manager for his transfer market dealings has gone quiet in recent months. Nice that Brendan – and Adam Idah – has shut them up!
