Bojan Miovski formerly of Aberdeen was once upon a time a Celtic target before he signed for La Liga side Girona last summer in a £6.5 million deal…
The big North Macedonian international has had a tough time in Spain and has struggled to adapt to his new surroundings and has been on the fringes of the side who last campaign competed in the champions league.
That doesn’t mean he’s a bad player as sometimes certain players just don’t suit certain clubs and he’s still a player that would improve our very own squad.
He’s a player that knows our game, he’s an international and at 25 he still has his best years ahead of him. He more than ticks all the boxes of our transfer strategy.
Miovski is a player who offers great a physical presence, is good on the ball and more importantly he has an eye for goal. He’s very much a Brendan Rodgers type player and one that we should be all over especially after it’s been reported he is ready to leave Spain after only one year.
Girona wouldn’t be hard to negotiate with, indeed they are reportedly, according to AS, seeking to offload the former Aberdeen striker this summer with his transfer value now at around £2m, a fraction of the fee that Aberdeen received.
Miovski’s debut season at Girona has certainly proved challenging. He struggled to find form, scoring only four goals across all competitions—two of which came in a Copa del Rey match against a fifth-tier opponent. In La Liga, he managed just two goals and one assist in 17 appearances. His playing time diminished as the season progressed, featuring for only 20 minutes in the last ten league matches. Girona narrowly avoided relegation, finishing just one point above the drop zone.
Miovski’s market value has declined significantly, and his future at the club is uncertain as Girona considers a squad overhaul.
He’s very much a player that many reckoned could do a decent job for Celtic and as the price is now going to be much lower than before , Brendan Rodgers might be minded to revisit this one. Heard worse suggestions, that’s for sure.
