Over the last two seasons, the Irishman has established himself as a consistent presence in Brendan Rodgers’ starting lineup. Scales made 39 appearances last season, helping Celtic clinch both the league and League Cup.
While featuring on the YouTube show ‘Jack’s Tee Time Talks,’ he shared his ideal five-a-side lineup, including a mix of past and present Celtic players.
“I would have Callum McGregor in there,” said Scales. “Kyogo. Goals. Oh, Joe Hart [in goal]. And then big Cam, Carter-Vickers [at the back]. Just a beast. That gives me one more? I am going to go with a winger and James Forrest. A brilliant five-a-side player. Top player.
Meanwhile, Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to accelerate the Hoops’ transfer activity after already securing the signings of Kieran Tierney and Ross Doohan.
Celtic have agreed a £1.3 million transfer with FC Nordsjælland for Swedish international Benjamin Nygren, and the announcement of Fulham prospect Callum Osmand is expected imminently.
With Nicolas Kuhn seemingly nearing a transfer to Bundesliga side RB Leipzig according to Kicker, securing a new winger has surely become Celtic’s top priority.
Sarpsborg’s Sondre Ørjasæter has been a long-standing target for the Scottish champions, though Celtic face a hefty £11 million price tag if they want to secure the 21-year-old’s signature.
Dutch champions PSV are also reportedly vying for the left-footed Norwegian winger, meaning Celtic might need to break their transfer record to seal Ørjasæter on a lengthy deal.
Belgian forward Michel-Ange Balikwisha remains on the Hoops’ radar, although Celtic are taking their time weighing this one up alongside other options. With only a year left on his contract, Balikwisha featured in just 17 matches last season and yesterday, writing on The Celtic Star, took a deep dive into the player’s career so far with real concerns over his injury record.
Even though the transfer window opened just last Monday, speculation around players across the globe showcase Celtic’s renewed proactive strategy and long-term vision – an approach that had been notably absent since Rodgers returned two years ago.
