Charlie Wright officially joins Manchester United

Charlie Wright has officially joined Manchester United at a time when work to rebuild the club continues far beyond Michael Carrick’s first-team squad.

Last season restored some belief at Old Trafford.

United climbed from 15th to third in the Premier League, returning to the Champions League after Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Senne Lammens helped transform Carrick’s side.

This summer brought another overhaul.

Carrick praised United’s transfer business after Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Carlos Baleba arrived to rebuild the midfield, although the failure to add another natural left-back left an obvious question unanswered.

The optimism has not survived September untouched.

United lost the Manchester derby despite City playing much of the contest with ten men, surrendered a 2-0 advantage to crash out of the Carabao Cup against Brighton and then needed a deflected Matheus Cunha equaliser to draw at Fulham.

The Fulham result extended United’s winless Premier League run to three matches, adding another layer of pressure to Carrick’s difficult opening weeks.

Amid that turbulence, another new arrival has now announced his own Old Trafford chapter.

Charlie Wright announces Manchester United move

Wright has joined United as a coach, confirming the news through his CW Coaching Instagram account on Monday evening.

“I am absolutely delighted to announce that I have started my new role at Manchester United,” Wright wrote.

His social-media profiles show that Wright is the owner of CW Coaching, while he also lists a separate position as finance manager at KSS NW Ltd.

Wright explained that he had spent the last few years coaching solely through his own business before accepting the additional responsibility at United.

The appointment clearly carries personal significance too. Wright described United as the club he has “loved since day one” and said wearing the badge was an “absolute privilege”.

His post also included the hashtag #academy, indicating his work will form part of United’s academy coaching structure rather than Carrick’s senior backroom staff.
