Chelsea are headed in the right direction following Saturday's draw with Liverpool in the Premier League.

That is the opinion of attacking midfielder Mason Mount, who spoke with the club website after the game.

While Mount knows that being mid-table is unacceptable at Chelsea, he believes that improvements in results and performances will take time given all the changes at the club this season.

I think if you compare it to the recent form of our away games, it was an improved away performance," said Mount.

We played good football, we could have scored a few, so I think from where we've been recently this was a step in the right direction. It was a positive game for us and we'll learn a lot from it as well."

He added: I think obviously from the last game, having a win and getting that three points, confidence-wise it gives you a massive boost.

We knew going to Anfield it's a difficult place to go, one of the toughest places in the world to play, and we knew we had to be at the top of our game. I think for the majority of the game we were.

Obviously a few times you're going to be under the pressure. Like the second half, at the beginning, we felt under pressure, but you have to deal with that and I think we're confident in the way we wanted to play. As I said, it was a step in the right direction."
