Perhaps Arsenal admired the way Liverpool played under Jurgen Klopp, as the Gunners have now been linked with a move for another player developed by the German manager.
Just days after reports linked Arsenal with Trent Alexander-Arnold, the Gunners are reportedly interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarell Quansah. The centre-back left Liverpool for Leverkusen and has developed into one of the finest young defenders in Europe.
Quansah had also earned a place in the England squad for the 2026 World Cup. In the Bundesliga, he has become a first-choice player and continues to demonstrate his quality, which is why Arsenal believe bringing him back to England could be a worthwhile move.
Sport Witness reports that the Gunners are strongly interested in signing Quansah, although it adds that they face competition from Chelsea. The Blues have also monitored the defender and regard him as one of the leading young players in Europe.
Chelsea would therefore like to add Quansah to their squad, creating a direct contest between two Premier League clubs. Arsenal would view him as a player capable of strengthening their defence, while Chelsea could see him as a long-term investment with the ability to develop further.
Quansah’s progress in Germany has made him an attractive target for both clubs. His regular involvement for Leverkusen suggests that he has developed the consistency required to compete at the highest level.
Liverpool have a buy-back clause in Quansah’s contract, but the Reds are unlikely to intervene if he chooses to join another Premier League club. Having already signed other high-quality centre-backs, Liverpool may not consider it necessary to bring the defender back to Anfield.
That could leave Arsenal and Chelsea free to negotiate with Leverkusen. The German club would still have the authority to decide whether to sell, while the defender’s performances could increase his value.
Arsenal will hope their interest is strong enough to secure an agreement before Chelsea make a more serious approach. However, with both clubs monitoring Quansah, the defender’s future could become one of the most closely followed transfer stories.
