Chelsea are the losingest team in the Premier League in 2023 – the facts are devastating

Chelsea lost 2-1 to Wolves in their penultimate game of 2023.

That makes it 19 defeats in 2023. No team in the Premier League has lost more in this calendar year. Week after week we capitulate and lose, generally in pathetic fashion.

If you thought it was just our previously high standards that was making things feel bad, you’re wrong. We’re statistically the worst team in the league in that period. It’s hard to get your head around.

To make it worse, someone even calculated the European edition of this – it turns out that in the top 5 leagues, only Almeria, Werder Bremer and Empoli have lost more than us this year.

This would be unacceptable form if we hadn’t spent a penny. The fact we’ve spent a billion changing most players in the squad just makes it comical.
