Manchester United may have a list of players they would like to sign this summer but an even bigger thing for them to sort out is the exit of players who no longer have a future at the club. The likes of Alejandro Garnacho, Sancho and Antony have all been left out of the pre-season tour.

One other player Amorim had no plans for this season is Marcus Rashford. Thankfully for the Red Devils though, they have managed to ship him out on loan to Spanish club Barcelona. Getting his wages off the books is massive for the English club.

In the coming weeks, Man Utd will be keen to move on the other attackers who are not in Amorim’s plans. Now, as per the Telegraph (h/t Manchester Evening News), Chelsea are expected to be on the hunt for Alejandro Garnacho even if they end up signing Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig.

Chelsea focusing on Xavi Simons

The Blues are in active negotiations with the Dutch star over a potential move to Stamford Bridge this summer. However, as per the report, Chelsea continue to be linked with a move for Garnacho as a potential new left-winger to provide competition to Jamie Bynoe-Gittens.

However, there is a catch. The report mentions that Chelsea will make a move for the 21-year-old Argentinian attacker only if they manage to find a new club for Christopher Nkunku. The French attacking midfielder is no longer in Enzo Maresca’s plans and Blues need to be able to move him on to make room for Garnacho.

When Garnacho was breaking into the first-team at Manchester United, he was widely expected to be the star-in-the-making and the face of the club in the coming years. The promise he showed in his initial years was quite exciting and it is a shame that Amorim and himself failed to see eye-to-eye.

Would Chelsea move for Garnacho?

Last season, despite playing more than 50 games for Man Utd across all competitions, the South American youngster failed to convince Amorim when it mattered the most. Garnacho was left out of the starting line-up for the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur which proved to be the breaking point of the relationship.

Ultimately, it feels like although there is interest in Garnacho, Manchester United will have to be patient for a sale to happen. It remains to be seen if Chelsea make a move for the youngster in the coming weeks but the Red Devils cannot afford to put all their eggs in this one basket. Let’s wait and see who finally takes the Argentinian off our hands this summer transfer window.
