Alejandro Garnacho’s time at Manchester United appears to be drawing to a close.
Despite being under contract until 2028 (Transfermarkt), head coach Ruben Amorim has made it clear that Alejandro Garnacho is not part of his long-term plans, leaving the winger’s future away from Old Trafford all but inevitable. The Argentina international, in return, has made it crystal clear to INEOS that he only wants to join Chelsea and stay in the Premier League.
The youngster has been on the lookout for an Old Trafford exit since Ruben Amorim did not start him in the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur in May. He was left out of Amorim’s pre-season tour squad, meaning his last appearance in a Red shirt came in Bilbao when the 21-year-old came on a substitute in the 1-0 defeat to Spurs.

Chelsea have been in talks with Manchester United for the signing of Garnacho for weeks now. From the player’s end, there is no issue as he has already agreed personal terms with the Blues.
The Red Devils value their academy talent in the region of £50million. This has led to some difficulties during negotiations between the two clubs as we head into the final days of the transfer window.
According to a report from The Guardian, Chelsea are only willing to make an offer worth £35m for the South American attacker. Man United maintain that their valuation should be met due to the deals involving both Noni Madueke to Arsenal (£48m) and Anthony Elanga to Newcastle United (£52m), with belief that Garnacho is of similar quality.
Garnacho turning down interest from elsewhere- including Bayern Munich and Saudi Arabia- could work in the Club World Cup champions’ favour during negotiations with United.
So far, INEOS have stayed firm in their valuation of the Madrid-born starlet, who was one of the team’s brightest spots in an otherwise torrid 2024/25 campaign. He netted 11 goals and produced 10 assists in 58 appearances, showing his quality in flashes. This makes it unsurprising that Chelsea want to sign Garnacho and bolster their hopes of competing in the Premier League and Champions League.
As they are blessed with plenty of attacking talents, it’d be interesting how Maresca would fit him in his starting XI regularly. But first, the Pensioners must meet United’s valuation if they want to have the player in their ranks this term. INEOS must not give any discount to Chelsea, even if Garnacho wants out and we need some quick funds to address our midfield unit.
