Chelsea are in talks with Manchester United target Jamie Gittens

Manchester United fans should brace themselves for major changes in the upcoming summer transfer window. After the dismal performances witnessed throughout the Premier League season, the club appears set for a full-scale transformation. Underperforming players and those no longer fitting into Ruben Amorim’s plans are expected to be moved on as United look to rebuild a competitive squad.

Among those facing uncertain futures are Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Jadon Sancho, all of whom have disappointed and, in some cases, been loaned out until the end of the season. It now seems increasingly likely that these players will not be part of United’s long-term project under Amorim.

As a result, strengthening the wide areas has become a priority. The Red Devils have been linked with several wingers in the transfer market, with the rumour mill already in full swing as United hunt for dynamic, quality options to bolster their squad.

Player ready to leave the Bundesliga

Sky Germany have reported that Chelsea are making significant progress in their efforts to sign Manchester United target Jamie Gittens this summer. The 20-year-old winger is expected to leave the Bundesliga at the end of the season, and TalkSPORT has suggested that the Blues are currently the favourites to land him.

Bundesliga journalist Christian Falk, writing for CaughtOffside, has backed these reports, confirming that Chelsea are in advanced talks over a potential deal. Falk also revealed that Borussia Dortmund are demanding a fee close to €50 million for Gittens, a price considered a bargain given the winger’s talent and potential. Should Chelsea complete the move, it would be a significant blow to Manchester United’s hopes of reinforcing their wide options with one of Europe’s most promising young attackers.

Looking at his performances this season, Jamie Gittens has delivered solid returns in the Bundesliga. The 20-year-old has scored eight goals in 29 appearances during the 2024/25 campaign, with five of those goals coming at home and three on the road.

Despite being just 20 years old, Gittens already shows the attributes required to make an impact at the Champions League level. Chelsea’s advanced talks to sign Gittens for around €50 million represent a significant setback for Manchester United. The young winger’s goal-scoring ability and immense potential could have been a game-changing addition for United, particularly as they look to phase out underperforming options like Marcus Rashford.

Missing out on Gittens, especially with Chelsea leveraging their financial power and Premier League pull, would be a major blow to Ruben Amorim’s rebuilding plans at Old Trafford.
