Chelsea interest in Mauricio Pochettino replacement candidate ‘denied by sources’

Chelsea’s interest in one manager name to replace Mauricio Pochettino has been completely played down by one journalist today.

A lot has been said about Pochettino and his Chelsea future, and we have heard about a various amount of different names of managers who could come in and replace him, whether that is anytime soon or in the summer.

One name who is popular in the rumour mill right now is Sporting’s Ruben Amorim, and he has been linked to a number of clubs who might soon need a new manager, including Liverpool and Chelsea.

However, Chelsea’s interest in Amorim has been played down entirely by journalist Ben Jacobs, writing in his exclusive inside Chelsea column for my own website, SPTC.

Jacobs says that reports suggesting Amorim is under consideration by Chelsea has been denied by his sources, which is an interesting one because really, if Chelsea do replace Pochettino, they should certainly be at least taking a look at the Portuguese manager.

Jacobs says: “There has been no [Chelsea] contact with Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi, and suggestions Liverpool target Ruben Amorim is under consideration are denied by sources. Amorim, as previously reported, was considered before Potter. He was not really in the mix, though, when Potter left.”
