Chelsea is closing in on this top target winger

Manchester United is getting closer to parting ways with Alejandro Garnacho. The talented winger fell out with Ruben Amorim following the Europa League final last season, where he started the game on the bench.

Chelsea has been pursuing Garnacho all summer. And now, with the summer transfer window on the horizon, it appears to be closing on a deal.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea has offered $47.2M plus add-ons for the young winger. That could be enough to entice United into selling. After all, any deal for Garnacho would represent pure profit from a "profit and sustainability" standpoint, as he's an academy graduate.

"Chelsea are understood to be offering £35M plus add ons for Argentina international Garnacho who is valued at £50M by United," Simon Jones reported. "... Daily Mail Sport revealed this week that Chelsea had started off with low offers around the £25M and £30M mark for Garnacho but are understood to have edged closer to United's valuation."

Under Erik Ten Hag, Garnacho is projected to be a key part of United's future. However, Amorim's 3-4-2-1 leaves no room for wingers, which forced Garnacho into an unfamiliar role. And while Amad Diallo is thriving as a wing-back, Garnacho struggled to showcase the same level of skill.

Amorim is rebuilding United from the ground up. The club has spent north of $250M on offensive additions this summer. Selling Garnacho will go a long way to recouping some of that outlay.

And while parting with a homegrown talent is never easy, Garnacho doesn't appear to be part of the team's future. Therefore, it's in everyone's best interest if his move to Chelsea is sealed sooner rather than later.
